The team at Edwards Executive Education recommends Dare to Lead: brave work. tough conversations. whole hearts by Brené Brown. They say that Brené’s work, stories and examples connect with their passion for why leadership training is so crucial. Individuals who embrace vulnerability at home and work, have the ability to inspire those around them. Brown’s book leaves the reader with real-life actionable tools that help us all be a little braver in our lives and at work. What really connects our organization to the book is how it takes a real leader to be courageous. We believe that leaders that are courageous recognize the potential in others resulting in organizational cultures that develop their team’s ability to collaborate, be creative and innovate.

The Edwards Executive Education team’s mission is to help educate and train thousands of men and women representing hundreds of businesses, government agencies, and not-for-profit organizations to develop personal and professional management and leadership competence.  Edwards Executive Education also works with Women in Leadership for Life to offer the Empowering Women Leadership Program.

Tracy Stephensen (see bio below) tells us that The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are by Brené Brown is an inspiring and motivational book that offers 10 guideposts for wholehearted living and explores how “Wholehearted living is about…cultivating the courage, compassion, and connection to wake up in the morning and think, ‘No matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough’. It’s going to bed at night thinking, ‘Yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that doesn’t change the truth that I am also brave and worthy of love and belonging’.” (page 1). There are many worthy insights in this book that are critical to one’s personal development.

Tracy Stephensen has 20-years’ experience working in Adult Education & Leadership Development. She is the Program Director for Leadership Saskatoon and Program Coordinator for Women in Leadership for Life.  Tracy is also a yoga teacher & Wellness Coach.
